Armed robber flees from store on bicycle

A bicycle-riding armed robber from Charlotte being pursued by police from three agencies did not make it very far on the dark, icy road back home after holding up the Dollar General store in Pembroke.
On Wednesday, January 10, at approximately 4:45 p.m. the Washington County Regional Communications Center (RCC) received a 911 call from the store to report an armed robbery. It was reported that a white male subject, 6'1" to 6'2" tall, wearing a white jacket, a black hat and a black face mask that covered part of his face, displayed a handgun at the clerk, took cash from the drawer and fled on foot from the store, running towards Route 1. The RCC received additional information from another caller reporting that a subject fitting this description was seen heading up Ayers Junction Road in Pembroke on a bicycle.
Law enforcement officers from several departments converged on the area from different directions and came across a person matching the description on Route 214 in Pembroke.
The subject, Joshua Fluke, 20, of Charlotte, was arrested, and a weapon and cash were recovered. Fluke was transported to the Washington County Jail and charged with armed robbery.      Fluke is currently on probation, and additional charges are expected.
The sheriff's office was assisted by the Pleasant Point Police Department and Eastport Police Department.
